The Mystery of Time

For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

We can’t imagine a world without time, but God created it just like He did the heavens and earth. He had a purpose and in the book of Ecclesiastes, especially in Chapter 3, we get a sneak peek.

Father, time goes on because of Your purpose for order in our world. You have also brought each of us to be born at our appointed time, and we will go back to the dust at the time You have purposed for us. Today, man understands time and how it works based on the movements of the heavenly planets, sun, moon and stars, but man could have never set it into motion as You did – with such precision!

Father, we know from Your Word that you cause time to continue in a rhythm that mankind can depend on, but we also read that you can make it stand still – by Your command. This means we can enjoy all the different seasons of life (time) that we will read about next in verses 2-8. Our time here on earth (under the sun) is to love and glorify You forever!
