Unfulfilled Longings

Just as streams of water run and never fill the sea, life experiences can sometimes fail to fill or satisfy the deepest longings of our heart.

All streams run to the sea, but the sea is not full; to the place where the streams flow, there they flow again.

Ecclesiastes 1:7

Unfulfilled longings bring us to our knees in anticipation of our Heavenly Father’s generous grace. Humility is the Lord’s remedy to keep us positioned for His blessings. Proverbs 13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.” I am thankful that One who knows best what I need, is Sovereign over my life. When a hope is deferred, I can rest knowing God has something better in mind.
