Striving After the Wind
The Preacher uses nature to perfectly describe how life under the sun can seem meaningless or out of control.
The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around goes the wind, and on its circuits the wind returns.
Ecclesiastes 1:6
God’s reign over earth is Sovereign, even the winds obey Him. To us, it can seem that there is no rhyme or reason to its quiet breezes, windy gusts, changes due to temperature, or even the direction it goes. Much like the rising of the sun, the winds are shifting, ever moving, but always returning to the same place.
My spiritual takeaway from this verse is that if God is in control over the wind, then I can rest knowing He cares even more for me and all the things going on in my life. I find much peace & contentment in the cycles of the sun and wind. There is a great calm in knowing His hand controls them and that He has created them to work together sovereignly to govern the universe.
