Psalm 119
I began a personal study of Psalm 119 in January of 2022 as a way to learn how to walk in the ways of the Lord. I studied one verse a day because each one seemed to point to a specific way the Lord would have us learn. Verse after verse gives wisdom and practical advice and it all points to God’s Word.
Thus says the Lord: “Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls.”
Jeremiah 6:16
Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm, containing 176 verses. It is arranged in an acrostic pattern based on the 22 letters of the Hebrew alphabet. The Psalm contains 22 stanzas of 8 verses each. Each of the 22 stanzas is grouped by a letter of the Hebrew alphabet, and each line in the section begins with that letter.
Psalm 119 refers to Scripture in almost every verse. There are eight different words used to describe the Scriptures and some form of these words is used in almost every single verse.
