With God – Peace & Contentment
Moreover I saw under the sun that in the place of justice even there was wickedness; and in the place of righteousness even there was wickedness.
Ecclesiastes 3:16 ESV
We see again from Solomon that nothing is worthwhile to live for in this world except God.
Even if we live in a world where there are laws to govern the people and Kings and Presidents with powers to be used for justice and equality, the ones in these positions are sometimes wicked and their judgments can be unfair. Sometimes sin can reign against the righteous. Corrupt judges may not use their power well, and abuse it instead of doing good. There are also righteous men who fall into sin.
As we read in Genesis, because of Adam’s sin, all of mankind is wicked and sinful. Even once we are saved we will succumb to sin and need to repent. It is easy to see how our lives will be affected by this until the day we die. Many things will not be fair to us. There will be many struggles in life with making a living, caring for those with infirmities in our family, sickness, illness, friends who forsake us, job loss, bad economies, weather catastrophes and accidents. We can easily succumb to fear and loneliness unless we know the Lord.
God is the only One who can cause our hearts to continue to have hope in life because we know He works all things out for our good and His glory.
