No Rest
What has a man from all the toil and striving of heart with which he toils beneath the sun? For all his days are full of sorrow, and his work is a vexation. Even in the night his heart does not rest. This also is vanity.
Ecclesiastes 2:22-23
No one knows our frame better than the Lord. He knows we are prone to wander, worry and work too hard. It’s no wonder we can’t get proper rest when we lay down to sleep. Our Father doesn’t want us to follow the ways of the world, working too hard for things we don’t need, and worrying about things that really don’t matter in the end. The wisdom He gives us from His Word applies to our lives today just the same as it did long ago. Take these verses to heart!
- Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Exodus 31:15
- Stand by the roads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way is; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls. Jeremiah 6:16
- Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:28-29
